For the first time, the Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas Sols-Morreale, IIBM (CSIC-UAM), announces the Sols-Morreale Award, an initiative aimed at recognizing excellence and impact in biomedical research. With this award, the IIBM reinforces its commitment to promoting outstanding scientific careers that contribute decisively to the advancement of knowledge and the improvement of health.
The award is named after Alberto Sols and Gabriella Morreale, scientists who give identity to the Institute and whose work profoundly shaped the development of biomedical research in Spain. Alberto Sols is regarded as a key figure in the consolidation of modern Spanish Biochemistry, while Gabriella Morreale was a molecular endocrinologist who promoted the renewal of experimental Endocrinology in Spain, with a particularly significant impact in the field of public health.
The Sols-Morreale Award was created with the aim of recognizing and highlighting outstanding scientific careers in the field of biomedical research, distinguishing those contributions that have had a significant impact on the advancement of knowledge. This award reflects the Institute’s firm commitment to scientific excellence, innovation, and leadership in research. In line with its mission, the IIBM promotes science aimed at understanding the fundamental mechanisms of diseases, with the goal of improving people’s health and quality of life, as well as actively contributing to the well-being of society.
