IIBM Sustainability Committe

Introduction

In a world where sustainability is a fundamental pillar for development and research, the Sols- Morreale Biomedical Research Institute (IIBM) reinforces its commitment to environmental protection, social equity and responsible economic growth. To this end, the IIBM Sustainability Committee has been created, an advisory body that promotes and oversees strategies aimed at integrating sustainability into all areas of activity of our centre.

Our Mission

The mission of the Sustainability Committee is to make the IIBM a more environmentally, economically and socially sustainable research institute. Its work seeks to ensure that the IIBM's scientific activity not only contributes to knowledge, but also promotes a research model aligned with the principles of global sustainable development.

Functions of the Committee

The Committee plays a key role in the implementation of the CSIC Sustainability Plan 2024- 2026, developing guidelines, evaluating plans and advising the different research and management units. Its main functions include:

  • Assessing the environmental and economic impact of the IIBM's activities.
  • Advising on the implementation of good practices in sustainability within the scientific community.
  • Promoting the inclusion of sustainability criteria in the selection of personnel and in transfer programmes.
  • Promote awareness-raising and training activities for all the centre's staff.
  • Collaborate with public administrations and organisations in the promotion of sustainable initiatives.

Composition and Collaborative Approach

The Committee is made up of multidisciplinary staff from our institute. Its composition ensures diversity of profiles and gender and age balance within the IIBM. In addition, the Committee works in a network with the different local sustainability committees present in the CSIC centres and institutes, promoting synergies and a participatory approach.

A More Sustainable Future for Science

The IIBM is committed to promoting the transition towards a research model that is not only innovative and of excellence, but also sustainable and socially responsible. Through this Committee, we seek to generate awareness and action in our community, demonstrating that science and sustainability can go hand in hand to build a better future.
