Thesis Advisory Committee

IIBM Thesis Advisory Committee

Introduction

A central element of the IIBM for training new scientists in the field of biomedicine is the Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC).
The main objective of the TAC is to assist predoctoral researchers in the development of their thesis projects, offering them the opportunity to discuss their results and future plans, receive scientific guidance from more experienced researchers. In addition, it also allows to identify, address, and solve any problems during the development of the thesis project, to help the execution of the project on schedule, and to ensure the success of the doctoral student in obtaining the PhD degree.

Each TAC is composed of:

  • The thesis director
  • Three scientists, external to the laboratory where the thesis is carried out, with extensive experience in the field of the thesis project. At least one of these three researchers must be external to the IIBM.

The IIBM has a team of TAC coordinators representing each research department at the IIBM.

  • Dr. Silvia Martin-Puig - Dept. of Metabolic and Immune Diseases.
  • Dr. Isabel Lastres Becker - Dept. of Neurological Diseases and Aging.
  • Dr. Francesc García Gonzalo - Dept. of Rare Diseases.
  • Dr. Guillermo de Cárcer Díez - Dept. of Cáncer.
