Work in this department aims at the understanding of how basic molecular processes at the cell and tissue level become integrated in the whole organism, or how physiological processes can be understood from its basic molecular components with reference to the Endocrine and Nervous systems. Among the specific goals are Nuclear Receptors, Thyroid Physiopathology, Obesity, Neurotrophins, Myelination, and Neuroprotection. The Department is composed of 17 research groups with a total of 60 investigators, including pre and postdoctoral fellows.
